Modernism and Sustainability
February 18, 2018 | 3:30 pm - 4:30 pm |
The indoor/outdoor lifestyle we enjoy in Palm Springs requires a quality indoor environment. We must be as comfortable inside as we are outside. Lighting, temperature, air quality: they all affect the experience of modern architecture. A quality indoor environment starts with clever design. This one-hour panel will consist of Frank Slesinski, of the local chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers, Dominique Hargreaves, of the US Green Building Council, Maureen Gilmer, horticulturalist and author, and John Goins from the Palm Springs Sustainability Commission. This group of experts will discuss how to balance a ‘mod’ style, imaginative new uses and cutting-edge materials to achieve a world-class sustainable environment.
Each panelist will present a local project, followed by a moderator-led question and answer session. The session will be technical enough to meet requirements for professional continuing education units. At the same time, the session will provide ‘weekend warriors’ with tips and tricks to use in their home projects.
