Plastics from Paradise: California Modernizes the American Lifestyle
February 17, 2017 | 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm |
A special exhibition by the Museum of California Design created specifically for the Palm Springs Modernism Show & Sale entrance in the Convention Center lobby. This compelling exhibition is the first to honor how California designers have put the myriad forms of plastic — fiberglass, polymer, Lucite, Styrofoam, Micarta and others — to imaginative and attractive new uses. It features cutting-edge consumer products made between 1936 to 2010, including the 1952 Glasspar G2 sports car, a sleek automobile that sports an all-fiberglass body designed by Bill Tritt in Costa Mesa, California.
