Howard Lapham built the Desert Star in 1954, his first project in the desert. He went on to build many private homes in the valley. The units of the Desert Star are built around a small, sparkling pool. The intimate size and courtyard style is typical of so many, now lost, small hotels built in Palm Springs. Howard Lapham memorabilia and plans for the property will be displayed courtesy of local collectors. This is the first time the hotel units, now privately owned, have been open to the public.
